Nursing shortages and turnovers seem to be chronic. Even under the most stable conditions, there are times when hospitals need additional nursing staff for scenarios such as epidemic conditions, natural disasters or simply summer vacations. As more baby boomers get older, there will be a need for more nurses to care for them; but not enough people are enrolling and completing nursing school.
